Ladies and gents, we are really excited to invite you to join us for the launch of our new EP! We came together as urchins scraping a living off the streets of Glasgow so it holds a special place in our hearts. And its always such a pleasure to play in Glasgow because everyone is so feckin up for it and its always a right good hooley! Joining us for the show we have some of Scotland's finest players: Ross Ainslie and Jarlath Henderson Banging Trad music from two of the best players around, bursting with energy and emotion. A fusion of pipes and flutes which pushes the boundaries of what the instruments can achieve in a performance which is a vibrant mix of new and original compositions along with traditional tunes. Dallahan- Irish, Scottish and Hungarian 5 piece who's songs and tunes have roots in Irish Trad music but encompass many global styles. The result? Original, exciting, high energy music that you can't help but jig about to. DJ Dolphin Boy- a unique entity. He has been an integral part of the positively evolving music scene in Scotland over the last 20 years and has also become one of Scotland’s favourite DJs and remixers. His open-minded musicality and ability to make even the folkiest of dirges sexy means he’s loved by the folkies and jazzers as well as by the hardcore clubbers on the dance floor. Hail Dolphin Boy. We love you you genre busting beat freak! Aidan O’Rourke (Lau, Kan) 9-3am Yaas!!

****TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE ON THE DOOR**** Woodburner are proud to present: The John Langan Band Firm Woodburner favourites and the most reliable party-starters ever; we love The John Langan Band with a deep passion. They take treasures from Celtic folk and Balkan music and turn them into the most ferocious dance party you can possibly imagine! In their own words: High energy, unhinged, and musically extravagant, taking traditional acoustic idioms and delivering with punk abandonment and virtuosic flare. A dynamic three piece offering a unique sound emerging from Celtic, Gypsy Swing, Roma and Flamenco and tuned in savvy. Wrapping pan European traditional acoustic music with infectious grooves, epic, pounding, sing along, punch the air anthems to intricately arranged instrumentals. Challenging the limitations of what people might expect acoustic instruments to sound like, the use of bowed harmonics between fiddle and bass can be as menacing and eerie as it can be psychedelic and mesmerising. Percussion provided by the front man Langan, whilst singing and driving the rythm guitar, he somehow co-ordinates the operating of a cajon and a tambourine with his feet bringing the driving, swinging groove of the rhythm guitar together with his foot percussion resulting in an impressively tight band sound with a tempo that is free to go anywhere. Add scorching hot fiddle lines and a guy thumping the groove out a double bass. If you’re not dancing like a professional ostrich you get a refund. SUPPORT is provided on the night by close pals Gwennie and the Old Accord Hailing from deep in the Highlands, Gwennie has connected with musical communities all over the UK and indeed the world. With sweet guitar picking, heavy accordion grooves and her own unique songwriting sensibility, when she combines with her band The Old Accord it's a show to remember with luscious backing vocals and a truly uplifting vibe. It seems only yesterday that we were dandling 2014 on our knee, taking it to the soft play centre and reading it bedtime stories; yet here it is now: doddery, flatulent and forgetting what it came into the room for. Come and help it go gently into that good night at our NEW YEAR’S EVE MASQUERADE BALL ON THE CABARET STAGE RUBYYY JONES, our compère beyond compare, will introduce a singing and flinging, strutting and stripping, shocking and schlocking line-up of side show, drag, erotica and burlesque nouveau, including: RUBYYY JONES – the queen of queerlesque, neo-burlesque beauty, sex education performer and force of nature. RUBY WEDNESDAY – Star of reality show “Drag Queens of London”: maniacal, misanthropic, Wednesday’s child is truly full of woe. SCARLETT O’HORA – Scandalous and infamous burlesque belle, flapper and tap-dancing temptress. PEARL GREY – Farthingale fetishist & winner of Burlesque Idol 2014 with her bondage homage to Blackadder’s Queenie. HANNAH LOU – one of London’s sexiest freaks, saucy side show girl with bite and burn. IN THE GRAND BALLROOM Our waltzmeister TROYLUS SEARLL will waft you down the Blue Danube to imperial Vienna, whirl you round the Riesenrad ferris wheel and then whisk you to the Hofburg ballroom, conjuring up the elegance and grandeur of the traditional New Year’s celebrations at the Habsburg court with a selection of his waltzes, polkas and gallops. And, after the Viennese, who knows better how to see in the New Year than the Scots? So from Glasgow, following their headline performance at Shakespeare’s Globe, will come the maverick minstrels of the JOHN LANGAN BAND, who will bring All the World to our Stage with their high-energy scotchpotch of Celtic, Balkan, Gypsy, Flamenco and Jamaican folk funk: Jacques Brel and Irvine Welsh scrapping over whose round it is to a klezmer beat. As 2015 lies gurgling softly to itself LOUISE XIV - the Sun Queen of the Bourbon biscuit dynasty - will take to the decks and stir up the dance floor will a regular royal concoction of Guilty Pleasures. THE MIDNIGHT BALLOON DROP THE TRAVELLING MENAGERIE In many ancient cultures the skin-shedding snake was the symbol of change and rebirth. So what more appropriate animal could there be for you to stroke for good luck as we ring in the New Year? And what better place to find one than in TIM MAYNARD's itinerant reptilian menagerie, along with scorpions, lizards and tarantulas? RING OUT THE OLD Pay your last respects to 2014 in our life drawing room as ART MACABRE and their cast of mourners stage a pagan funeral for the Old Year. Then on the stroke of midnight, dry your tears and wet your nibs as the scene transmogrifies into a Gaelic birthing ritual to welcome the arrival of 2015. THE GREAT GAME As the inexorable transition from one year to another reminds us, we are but flotsam and jetsam on the roaring torrent of time. So take your place on our HUMAN CHESS BOARD as pawn, knight or bishop and surrender your Will and your Fate to our Golden Game Players, who will despatch you to death or glory in a Ruy Lopez, fianchetto or Queen's Gambit Declined. JOHN LANGAN BAND: "High energy, unhinged, and musically extravagant taking traditional acoustic idioms and delivering with punk abandonment and virtuosic flare." - The John Langan Band are not to be missed! There's nothing like a drunk glaswegian dancing in the streets with his pants on his head to inspire a song! Seriously though there's all kinds of stuff they've brought into this folk context from classical, punk, gypsy swing, metal, and electronic dance music. www.thejohnlanganband.com/ COCOS LOVERS: Formed in early 2008, Cocos Lovers (pronounced Co-Koss), are a 6-8 piece band from Deal on the Kent coast. A close-knit band made of family members and friends who all contribute to the writing and arrangements of the bands songs. Since forming they have become a favourite on the UK festival scene and gained a reputation for fantastic multi-instrumental performances combined with choir like harmonies and glorious widescreen melodies. The music is heartfelt and pure combing traditional folk, African and Eastern rhythms and strains of the Deep South. www.cocoslovers.com JOUIS: JOUIS (Jhew-eee) are 5 piece band based in Brighton, UK. Combining Jazz, Psychedelia and Progressive Rock, their sounds are designed to open your mind, loosen your limbs and spirit you away to new lucid dimensions. Jouis is a French word roughly translated as 'to be enjoyed' (derived from 'Jouissance'), a philosophy the band has upheld since its inception. www.jouis.co.uk BLIND BUFFALO QUARTET: Performing a mad fusion of twisted swing and progg vaudevillian rhumba, the 4 piece power collective hit the stage once again! The Blind Buffalo trio (quartet on this occasion) feature members from Rum Buffalo. They have played Edinburgh Fringe, Eastern Europe, and the UK in the last year and are fast making a reputation fro themselves as a great party band, bringing life to old tunes your great-grandparents danced to! www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvLoN0iFkrg FREEAR: Mike Freear is the founder, producer and DJ of immersive festival favourites Slamboree and is renowned for being consistently left-field, innovative and fresh with his ideas and creations. This last year has seen Mike receive worldwide acclaim for the rip-roaring success of the band, producing the Beans on Toast record ‘Giving Everything’, winning awards for ‘Best Live Act’ & ‘Best Remix’ at the International Breakspoll Awards alongside nominations for ‘Best Breakthrough DJ and ‘Best Small Event’ for his warehouse fundraisers. Mr Freear’s pulling out the stops to bring us one serious party set, drawing in all of his influences and showcasing some of his unreleased gems! facebook.com/freearmusic youtube.com/mikefreear soundcloud.com/freear soundcloud.com/freear/freear-i-want-you-to-get-mad-dj-mix DAISY BEAU: An upbringing on the colorful and creative music scene of london has created one the most talented vocalists and song writers. With influence from folk, jazz, soul, afrobeat and many other genres, Daisy Beau's songwriting has caught the hearts of so many. After over 10 years of live music touring and performance, Daisy Beau's vocal virtuoso and stage presence continue to blossom and grow. www.daisybeau.co.uk DJ CONRAD OLENDE: DJ Olende has been squeezing the funkiest bootyshakin' goodies of all shapes, sizes & genres out of the decks for more years (decades) than he cares to mention ~ going all around the houses to keep your hips swaying, he'll throw pretty much anything into the mix so long as it's...brilliant! Christ the folk in Hebden Bridge don't mess about. Usually it takes a song or two for people to really get in to it but tonight within the first 30
seconds there was people rolling about on the floor and having pints poured over their heads and smashed into their faces out of sheer euphoria. Tomorrow, Liverpool!! Let's see what you've got. We're on stage at Leaf on Bold Street at 10pm. See yas there? Xx

"If you go down to the woods today, You're sure of a big surprise. If you go down to the woods today, You'd better go in disguise…" Creatures big and small, from badgers to wood nymphs and from field mice to owls have all gathered under the old oak tree for the woodland's biggest social event of the year. A troupe of passing musicians have set up camp and are ready to set the tree tops a'shaking! Line up so far: *** THE JOHN LANGAN BAND *** *** SEAS OF MIRTH *** *** KAPTIN IS DEAD *** The John Langan Band This high energy, unhinged and extravagant trio deliver traditional acoustic idioms with punk abandonment and virtuosic flare. A dynamic three-piece offering a unique sound emerging from Celtic, Gypsy Swing, Roma and Flamenco. www.thejohnlanganband.com/ Seas of Mirth Combining hilarious live shows with pounding dance music, Seas of Mirth are a party band unlike any other. Alongside high-speed gypsy beats, a thrashy folk influence and some majestic bellowing, they even manage to throw in a bit of old-school hip-hop for good measure. They holler nautical folk tales, punishment chants, misfortunate love ballads and musical yarns, all concerning mythical sea beasts. seasofmirth.com/ Kaptin is Dead Renegade Sheriff and Music Programmer for Boomtown Fair festival, Kaptin has his finger on the trigger, with exclusive access to tunes that make the knees quiver. Shaking the grounds of the Jolly Dodger and The Old Mines stages at Boomtown this year, he's no stranger to the bands we have in store for the evening and is set to deliver some fine gypsy bangers for all. As always there's fancy dress prizes to be won, so preen those pelts, perk up your ears and get ready to shake your tail feathers. Scene after last night's gig at the spectacular inshriach house in the cairngorms. So lovely to be here again. We're so lucky to keep getting invited back. Autumn in the highlands is something else. Thanks so much Walter micklethwaite. Get well soon min! Off to eat some delicious food and play the legendary guy falkes night party at the old bridge inn in whiskies. They have only just finnished redecorating after their Halloween shenanigans at the weekend. Might be a messy one. ... See MoreSee Less
